Choices Have Consequences

Landmines are to maim people. They are not made to kill but instead, to maim the person so that other people will tend to him/her injuries. It is a military strategy to weaken the opponent. Same with our family, if one of the family members stepped into a spiritual landmine and gets maimed, we need to tend to that family member and the family would have difficulty moving on.

One of Satan’s most deceptive and powerful ways of defeating us is to get us to believe a lie. And the biggest lie is that there are no consequences to our own doing. – Charles Stanley

“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” ??Galatians? ?6:7? ?NLT??

We REAP what we sow.
It is always said that whatever a man’s sows, he will reap. There will always be consequences but some consequences take time, some are immediate. How we wish consequences come immediately so that we could learn immediately because life experiences are ruthless teachers. We always learn things the hard way. Remember, orange trees don’t bear apple fruits.

However, in this modern time, this is how we really see things: You are FREE to choose to sin but you are NOT FREE to choose the consequences of your decision. If you don’t spend time with your family, the world will sow time for them. People as sociable beings, we would prefer to spend the time to people who want to spend time with us. There’s also this thing called the “One degree Principle.” Just a little sin, just a little lie. If we compromise to the world, we will get off course. We will get lost.
And when you do something wrong and the Holy Spirit convicts you, humble yourself immediately.

“Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.” Galatians? ?6:8? ?NLT??

We often DECEIVE ourselves.
Because of our sinful nature, it is normal to have the appetite for money and other worldly things, however, because of sin, we become distorted and corrupted. We all have appetites but we are corrupted by sin. Corruption is progressive, addictive and brings inner decay.

Every time we make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part of you that chooses into something a little different from what it was before. C.S. Lewis

Choices are everywhere and it is part of your life. Whatever you choose, good or bad, will change your life Being a Christian is a label. What important is the transformation as you walk with the Spirit. Sometimes God gives us the ailment to remind our dependence on Him.

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans? ?8:14? ?NLT??

The ENCOURAGEMENT: Wrong choices do not DEFINE us.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians? ?6:9? ?NLT??

Remember His promises.
Manage THAT appetite.
God is a rewarder.

So, what is that one thing I clearly learned from the message? Choose God. Always.
