True Life Retreat Notes: Day 2

Here are my short takeaways on the Day 2 of True Life Retreat. The Holy Week  Retreat was held last April 13 to 15, 2017 at CCF Center.

How to Pray. (part 1)
What is prayer to you? Is it all about wishing what you want in life? Do you pray when your either extremely happy or extremely sad? Prayer is actually spending time to talk to the Father. Since He is our Heavenly Father, He wants us to constantly communicate with Him even if there’s no occasion in your life. Prayer is your communion with God and in prayer you fill it up with praises to Him and your heart’s desires. We could never fight evil alone. We should never let ourselves be independent from God because the more independent we are, the weaker we are. We must be dependent to Him. Practice Praying and we can always start with the Prayer Jesus taught us, “Our Father…” Let’s deepen our relationship with God through praying. So pray. How? Confession, Adoration, Supplication and Thanksgiving.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” ??John? ?14:6? ?NLT??

Living a Spirit-Filled Life.
The life with God is never easy, it is Impossible. Temptations will continuously test your Faith and there are times that we let fear control us. God wants us to walk by the spirit as we love in complete faith and dependence on Him. Faith is our shield and Prayer is our weapon. Let the Holy Spirit take the wheel. Remember that it is not how much of Him you have, but it is how much of your life is yielded to Him.

“Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.” ??Romans? ?6:12? ?NLT??

Deliverance.
There should be a spiritual discipline in our lives; Praying, Bible-Reading, complete dependence and worshiping God. There is an ongoing Spiritual Warfare and the Devil is doing everything in its power to test our Faith. Bad habit doesn’t happen overnight and it is on what we believe that builds fortresses in our minds which forms strongholds that hold us away from Christ. Sin separates us from the love of God. We need to confess and repent our sins. Repentance is a complete turning away from those sins with the will of never looking back. Remember God’s love and how our debts were paid by one true sacrifice.

“But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” ??1 John? ?4:4? ?NLT??

True Commitment.
True Commitment is when you obey the Lord. Salvation is a gift we are all here brought by God’s grace. Understand the gospel and believe in it. True change and true life happens if there’s true commitment. If you call yourselves a believer and a follower of Christ, then obey. With no apprehension, no inhibitions and no questions. Obey.

“When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.” ??John? ?15:10? ?NLT??
