When Life is an Endless Battle

These are my notes from B1GFridays Love, Hold On: When Life is an Endless Battle.

We face endless battles every day such as traffic, difficult people, office politics, may it be singleness, family problems, financial crisis, and sickness. And whenever we feel like there’s an endless battle going on, we feel tired, worrisome, we overthink, we become unproductive, sets confusions, we get addicted, angry, we tend to hurt others, and sometimes it may lead to committing suicide. We are reminded to Gaze at Jesus so that we could have Peace.

Genuine Peace is not the calmness of heart nor certainty of our decision. It is the assurance that we are doing the right thing. It is the security that everything will work out for our good.

What kind of Peace does Jesus give?

1. Peace in the midst of storms. Storms in our lives are inevitable. In Psalms 29:11 it says we won’t appreciate God’s peace if we don’t need it; unless we are broken. But we have to realize that thankful people are normally at peace (Philippians 4:6) and that peace transcends all understandings (Philippines 4:7) while thinking what is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, RIGHT, PURE, LOVELY, and ADMIRABLE (Philippians 4:8). The more Christ fills your life, the more peace you have in any situation.

2. Peace in God. Our greatest problem is we are enemies of God because of Sin. We have to have that peace with God through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1) and through believing and through His blood, we have been justified (Romans 5:9), therefore that reconciliation brings peace to us (Romans 5:10). The more we appreciate what Christ has done for us, the more grateful we become.

3. Peace that is everlasting. We are reminded in Isaiah 9:6 that the Prince of Peace is with us and Peace is everlasting (Isaiah 9:7). There is absolute security in Jesus. If we place our security in other things aside from Jesus, we’ll end up disappointed and wanting more security. We are reassured that nothing will harm us. The Lord will be with us and guard us always – as long as we seek refuge in Him. (Psalms 91:9-11). This is simply because He loves us and that we shall deliver Him and Honor Him (Psalms 91:14-15). There’s absolute security in Jesus.

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3 NASB

Now the question is, to whom do you usually run to whenever you feel like there’s an endless battle? Would you love to receive that “Genuine Peace?” Gaze at Jesus and Hold On.
