Mabuhay Maritime on #TheWAYtoSAIL

Last October 23, I was invited to witness the launch of Philippine Airline’s newest venture – the Mabuhay Maritime Express! This is my first EVER Ship Launch and I genuinely enjoyed every bit of it. This is something I can actually look forward to when it comes to traveling and I am amazed how Philippine Airlines will now conquer the seas through Mabuhay Maritime right after they already conquered the skies. Now, Filipinos can marvel at Philippines’ beauty in both air and nautical miles!

My Boarding Pass

It was my third time to travel via seas and I must say that Mabuhay Maritime definitely sets the bar high on this world-class experience. I love how Dr. Lucio Tan envisioned connecting all Philippine Islands through Mabuhay Maritime Express with its promise to providing Convenient, Quick, and World-Class ferry service to its passengers.

Mabuhay Maritime is a private, wholly-owned subsidiary of Philippine Airlines, Inc. It is established last August 2016 and Q4 of 2018 is a great time to finally launch it. As of now, Mabuhay Maritime provides ferry service between Kalibo and Boracay using two (2) custom-built, state-of-the-art catamaran vessels with 410 passenger capacity each, traveling at 27 knots.

They currently have two (2) vessels named MV Magalang and MV Malambing, each of it has a 590 Gross Tonnage and can carry 410 pax in one sail. Moreover, each has three (3) partitions: Regular Class for  286 seats, Premium Class for 70 seats, and  First Class for 54 seats.

My friend and I were lucky to board the ferry right before anyone else could and I had my time to appreciate the beauty of the interiors. I was really amazed by how the interiors of the ferry closely resemble Philippine Airlines’ airplanes! “Parang eroplano!” swear, those were my first words when I entered the vessel.

Like as I have said earlier, I had the opportunity to ride two other vessels when I had a short vacation at Marinduque last 2015 and both rides felt normal and quite mediocre – you know, just to safely reach my destination. On the other hand, Mabuhay Maritime Express gave me both security and enjoyment. For an hour and a half, I really enjoyed my trip; Enjoyed the accommodation, the seats, the comfort rooms, and the view! Oh and, I forgot to mention, I took this first sail with no other than Dr. Lucio Tan and his family!

Yay for the snacks!

Mabuhay Maritime has Kalibo-Boracay nautical route as of the moment; Building their own MME Jetty Port. But since this is owned by the biggest player in the travel industry (both locally and internationally), we can only count a few months before they can literally connect all Philippine Islands via Mabuhay Maritime Express! Visit the newly-opened Boracay with Mabuhay Maritime Express for a convenient, quick, and world-class experience for you and your well-deserved vacay! Travel in round-trip on First Class for only Php 2,500, Premium Class for only Php 2,000, and Regular Class for only Php 1,500.

The way Mabuhay Maritime executed the event was seamless! Everything was really thought of and every detail of the experience is notable. Pico de Loro is a good place to celebrate yet again, a  milestone, for Dr. Lucio Tan’s business ventures. The food choices served for lunch at Pico de Loro’s Beach and Country Club is to die for! Too bad my friend and I did not get to win any of the raffle prizes but honestly, just the mere fact that we were invited to witness and actually came, it already a  great win for me. It was an intimate crowd and you can actually be comfortable with everyone on it.

Right before we dock back to Manila, Mabuhay Maritime handed us these goodies to remember the wonderful experience and called it a day. Now, I cannot wait to plan ahead for our family to visit Boracay and travel via Mabuhay Maritime Express! Thank you so much for allowing me to witness this wonderful event!

Here is a video summary of my experience!

17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

  1. Whaaaaat? That’s sooooo surprising. I just hope they would maintain their facilities and good service as much as they maintain pal’s. Nevertheless, this is a truly good move especially for travelers who wants to have a glimpse of the sea when traveling (and for sure this is much less expensive than the airline’s right?) Kudos to the Lucio Tan and his team.

    1. That was actually my post-thoughts on their vessel. Maintenance is really difficult esp if it’s already up and running for public use.
True, PAL’s service is highly expected from it.

    1. Yay! Perfect! A lot are planning to visit the newly-opened Boracay and it’ll be perfect to visit using this newly-sailed vessel šŸ™‚
