Work-in-Progress: Work Redefined

These are my notes from B1G Fridays Work-in-Progress: Work Redefined

“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy? ?6:10? ?NLT??

Because we are too busy in going towards to our pursuit, we forget to focus on more important things. Learn to be contented. It all leads to self-righteousness.

“Fools are so exhausted by a little work that they can’t even find their way home.” ??Ecclesiastes? ?10:15? ?NLT??

No direction. No purpose.
No purpose. No passion.

That’s why people sometimes have the burden in doing their work because they don’t know the purpose of their life.

“What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful in its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him.” ??Ecclesiastes? ?3:9-14? ?NLT??

AVODAH
– Hebrew word for “work” which also means “worship”
– worship towards God
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians? ?3:23-24? ?NLT

29 But I did find this: God created people to be virtuous, but they have each turned to follow their own downward path.” Ecclesiastes 7:29 NLT

God made man upright (God’s design)
But men have gone in search of many schemes (man’s desire)

2 Types of B.E.Attitudes
1. Have a “Below Expectation” Attitude
DO NOT BE:
– Self promoting
– Office gossip
– Very nega
– Super petiks
– Over-entitled
– Sobrang impatient
– Lacks initiative
– Feeling Gwaps
– Not accountable
– “He who is good in making excuses. Is seldom good at anything else”

Self-esteem: what you think of yourself
Reputation: what others think of you
Character: what God knows of you; who you are when no one is looking

Focus on your character and your reputation will follow

2. Higher than Expectation Attitude
– Stand out. Distinguish yourself. Be set apart
– People see you not of who you are but who you can be
“Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.” Ecclesiastes? ?9:10? ?NLT??

INTERNSHIP – always say “yes”. Each task is an opportunity to learn.
OWNERSHIP – plunge headlong into every task given you.
STEWARDSHIP – has as much to do with the releasing as with the owning.
WORSHIP – whatever you do; no matter how small it is, do it all for the glory of God

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” Romans? ?8:28-29? NLT

My desire is to know Christ
My purpose is to be like Christ
My vision is to be with Christ
My mission is Christ to be known

The speaker’s Revelations:

  1. Never love my first love
  2. Never ever give up
  3. Never compromise
  4. Never tolerate evil
  5. Never be complacent
  6. Never ignore God’s open doors
  7. Never be lukewarm

I’m not the most capable but I’m the most available.
